Join Our Program!
Most children start school with us in September and join a group of peers and teachers who they will remain with for the whole school year (September-August). This cohort model allows children to form deep connections with their classmates as well as secure attachments to their caregivers. Midyear spots are sometimes available, and our waitlist fills quickly; we encourage families who are interested to contact us about enrolling with as much notice as possible. For more information about the enrollment process, see the steps below.
How to Enroll
1) Contact us
You can inquire about open spots in our program at any time by emailing the Preschool Director at preschool@prlc.org! Please include your child’s name, their date of birth, your name, contact phone & email, and what schedule you’re looking for. If we have space available in a classroom we’ll start the enrollment process right away, otherwise we will add you to our waitlist.
2) Attend a tour
When a spot becomes available our Preschool Director will contact you to schedule a tour! The bulk of our tours are in the spring as we identify children who will be enrolling in the coming September, but midyear placements are sometimes available. Tours are not required prior to enrollment, though we strongly recommend them.
3) Pay your enrollment fee
Families secure their spot in our program by paying a non-refundable $200 enrollment fee. We generally give each family around 2 weeks from when we offer a placement to accept the spot and pay this fee before we begin offering it to other families.
4) Complete registration forms
For families beginning care with us in September, we generally send out enrollment paperwork about a month before the first day of school. This includes your child’s registration packet, emergency card, and review of updated policies & procedures for the school year. If you enroll with us midyear, we’ll have you complete this paperwork before your child starts care. This is also when your child’s teachers will reach out to begin learning more about them and your family!
5) Visit the school with your child
We strongly recommend that families bring their child in for a visit day ahead of their first day of school. Visit days are typically 1-2 hours long and coordinated with your child’s teachers ahead of time; they may consist of time in the classroom or a meet-up on the playground. This is a great time for your child to meet their teacher with you available as a secure base. If your circumstances make a visit day impossible, please let us know and we can work in partnership to find other ways of easing your child’s transition into our care.
6) Start school!
Most children in our program start their first day of school during the first week of September. If your child will start on a different schedule due to midyear enrollment, their age, or other circumstances, you can coordinate that with our Preschool Director.
